Last Saturday, 20 of the most outstanding scientists in Da Nang were honoured for their active involvement in promoting the city’s science and technology sector over the 1997 - 2017 period. 

The outstanding scientists

Organised by the municipal People’s Committee and the city’s Union of Science and Technology Associations, the event aimed to mark 20 years since Da Nang’s recognition as a centrally-governed city on 1 January 1997.

The honourees were listed as follows:

PhD. Nong Thi Ngoc Minh, the former Deputy Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee and the former Director of the city’s Science and Technology Department

Associate Prof. PhD. Phan Cao Tho, the Principal of the Junior College of Technology

Master's degree holder Bui Van Tieng, the Chairman of the city’s Historical Science Association

Associate Prof. PhD. Doan Quang Vinh, the Deputy Director of the Universities of Da Nang

Associate Prof. PhD. Nguyen Van Ly, the Director of Academy of Politics Zone III

Engineer Nguyen Thanh Chuong, the Director of the city-based QCM Technology company

PhD. Le Nguyen Bao, the Vice Principal of the Duy Tan University

Prof. PhD. Le The Gioi, the Director of the University of Economics

Engineer Tran Dan, the Vice Chairman of the municipal Bridge and Road Association

Over the past 2 decades, the honourees have brought their researches into fruition for the city’s progress.  Many of them have won notable awards at municipal and national-level competitions.

Municipal People’s Commitee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung praised the honourees for their great efforts in furthering the development of local science and technology sector.  He also stressed the need for them to promote even more innovations in science and technology activities.
