Mr Nguyen Van Phung, Director of the Da Nang Department of Finance, has been honourably presented with an ASEAN CIO Award at a recent ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City.

He was amongst the 27 recipients of ASEAN CIO/CSO (Chief Information Officer/Chief Security Officer) Awards 2016.

Mr Phung directed the successful implementation of a fourth-level online public service application to provide codes for agencies using the local budget, and basic construction projects.

During the first 2 years of using the application, the city saw numerous positive results.  In particular, the time taken to deal with administrative procedures was reduced from 7 to 2 days.  This has helped local residents and businesses save travel and administration costs, and has enhanced the transparency of State management activities.

Since their introduction in 2004, the ASEAN CIO/CSO Awards have identified and honoured outstanding individuals who are responsible for the information management and security which ensures business continuity, minimises business risks, and maximises business opportunities in enterprises, governmental and civic organisations.
