The event was jointly organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Viet Nam Association for Promoting Education (VAPE).
Addressing the event, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri remarked that the city authorities are now focusing on deploying the ‘City of 4 Safe Programmes’ and ‘5 No’s, 3 Yes’s’ campaigns in a bid to make Da Nang even more prosperous, peaceful, civilised and modern in the future. He proudly said that importance has been attached to promoting the city’s lifelong learning movement through the organisation of practical programmes which recorded many positive results. Included were the ‘Families of Study’, ‘Communities of Study’, and ‘Units of Study’ programmes.
Deputy Secretary Tri affirmed that these study encouragement programmes had helped to raise public awareness of upholding the traditional Vietnamese fondness for learning, building a learning society, as well as upgrading local rural areas and building a cultural lifestyle in local residential areas.
It was reported at the review meeting that this year Da Nang made it into the top 10 Vietnamese localities in terms of the highest number of households recognised as ‘Families of Study”, with about 146,000. Also, 37,000 local villages and hamlets were hounoured as ‘Communities of Study’.
