The awards were designed for three groups — pupils from primary and junior high schools; those from senior high schools, and students from junior colleges and universities, from across the country. The intention was to seek, introduce, and publicise outstanding initiatives and models on environmental protection and sustainable development.
The organising board received 1,500 entries from individuals and organisations in 50 provinces and cities throughout the country.
The entries focused on energy saving, environmentally-friendly products, biodiversity preservation, waste recycling and treatment, policy solutions, environment education, and application of information-technology in environmental protection and management.
30 of the most outstanding entries in the qualifying round were selected for the finale.
As for the primary and junior high school pupil group, the first prize went to the Dang Chan Primary School in Tuyen Quang Province's Son Duong District. Meanwhile, the Van Ban No.4 High School in Lao Cai Province, and the Z751 enterprise under the General Department of Engineering, received first prizes in the senior high school pupil, and junior college and university student groups respectively.
In addition, the organising board also presented 6 second prizes, 9 third prizes, and 12 consolation prizes to other outstanding works.
