Last Saturday, the Da Nang Union of the Science and Technology Associations held a meeting to review its performance during 2016 and to identify its tasks for 2017.

Attending the event were the Chairman of the Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations, Professor Dr Dang Vu Minh, municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung, Head of the Department of Publicity and Training and the city’s National Assembly Members’ Group Nguyen Thanh Quang, and the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairmen Ho Ky Minh and Nguyen Ngoc Tuan.

During last year, the Union focused on enhancing the quality of its activities, attracting local intellectuals to participate in them, and widely publicising the scientific and technological knowledge amongst local residents.  In addition, numerous remarkable results were gained in foreign affairs activities and international cooperation.

As for this year, special attention will be paid to building closer relationships with its members, promoting research and innovation activities amongst local residents, and organising more scientific and technological innovation competitions.  Importance will also be attached to implementing social critiques and appraisals, and expanding cooperation with international non-governmental organisations to seek funds for the city’s research projects.

In his speech at the meeting, Vice Chairman Minh spoke highly of the remarkable achievements the Union and its chapters gained during last year.  He highlighted the vital role of the Union as a bridge linking the city leaders with local scientific and technological intellectuals.

The city leader asked the Union to bring scientific and technological research to fruition, and to cooperate with the city’s Start-up Council to boost local start-up innovations to develop Da Nang into a start-up city in the years ahead.
