eDoctor, a mobile app developed by a Vietnamese tech startup that connects users with medical professionals, has been selected to receive free mentorship and monetary support from Google.

The support is part of the Launchpad Accelerator program initiated by the U.S. Internet giant that aims to empower tech startups across the world to reach their true potential.

eDoctor is a mobile app that allows patients to receive medical advice and instructions at home by providing them with a platform to connect with real doctors.

Users can make health-related inquiries, look up medications, and search for the nearest clinics and pharmacies at the comfort of their own home.

Apart from typed-in questions, eDoctor also allows users to contact available doctors via phone calls for a better diagnosis of their condition.

eDoctor offers medical aid in most common medicine subspecialties, including obstetrics, gynecology, oncology, urology, cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, endocrinology, nutrition, pediatrics and andrology.

The app is available for download for iOS and Android users.

Launchpad Accelerator is a program launched by Google to empower founders by supporting their startups through mentorship and equity-free support.

The program is currently operating in 17 countries across Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Europe.
In Asia, the Launchpad Accelerator program is available for tech startups in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

As part of this program, each startup receive US$50,000 in equity-free support, two weeks of all-expense-paid training at Google Headquarters in the Silicon Valley and access to Google engineers, resources and mentors.

Selected startups will also have a chance to work closely with Google for six months, get credits for Google products and receive PR training and global media opportunities.

This year, eDoctor is the only Vietnamese representative among 14 other startups from Asia.

Last year, two other mobile apps by Vietnamese developers were selected to join the program, which are English pronunciation practice app ELSA Speak and web design platform Haravan.
