Smart bins donated to Da Nang
Intelligent bins are coming to Da Nang, thanks to Japanese tire producer Bridgestone Viet Nam's smart dust bin project.
A smart dust bin project is launched in Da Nang with an aim of keeping the city clean and being an attraction to tourists. |
The Bridgestone Viet Nam, the project's sponsor, will donate 50 smart trash bins which will be placed at roadsides and public parks in the city.
The bins are designed to keep organic and inorganic waste separate. They also have a water filter system and a public-use solar-powered mobile phone charger.
Mr Hiroyuki Saito, General Director of Bridgestone Viet Nam, said “Through the project, we want to convey the message of keeping the country clean and green for a better life.”
He added “Bridgestone wants to boost the environmental protection by offering innovative technological ideas, such as these smart trash bins. This is also part of our traditional community services for many years, contributing to the sustainable development of Viet Nam”.
Earlier, the Japanese company sponsored smart bins for HCM City with the aim of raising awareness amongst locals about environmental protection.
The project is part of the city’s preparations for the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Summit in Da Nang in November.Mr Saito said the company will donate more smart bins to northern cities and provinces.
