An interactive whiteboard or LCD is a computer driven device, allowing users to access and manipulate electronic files by means of a projector (only for whiteboards) and the board's surface. The interactive whiteboard or LCD will be connected to a computer, and the computer then connected to a projector.
The Nguyen Trai Senior High School has been one of the educational establishments in the city to have been selected by the city authorities to implement the use of all kinds of the hi-tech devices on a trail basis.
During the past 2016 - 2017 academic year, a total of 5 smart boards were installed in this school’s classrooms, and teachers were also introduced how to utilise these devices.
The school’s Biology teacher Pham Thi Bich Tra highly hailed the interactive boards for bringing significant improvements in the education sector by simplifying the learning processes.
With interactive whiteboards, teachers can easily formulate and plan for the lesson beforehand, and can schedule for specific learning tasks. While on the hand, teachers will have an easier time delivering on what they have on their lesson plan.
A pupil at the school said that the application of the easy-to-use and useful boards really helps to make lessons more fun as this move spurs the enthusiasm amongst him and his classmates to get involved in learning process.
In reality, images and presentations are delivered in full HD display accompanied by interactive computer capabilities. Pupils in such comfortable learning environment will find syllabus coverage more fun, and most of them won’t miss school or skip classes.
Instead on making the often boring one-way presentation, a teacher can use interactive whiteboards to engage every student in class, thereby helping to increase the level of engagement and interaction between teachers and pupils. Lessons, hence, will be more vivid, more engaging and certainly more productive.
Like the Nguyen Trai school, 14 and 7 interactive boards have been also used at the Luong The Vinh Junior High School and Hoang Hoa Tham Senior High School respectively.
An official from the municipal Department of Educational and Training said that the local authorities have already given the go-ahead to the use of over 8 billion VND from the city budget to implement a project for providing support equipment for teaching methods.
Under the project, a total of 322 interactive boards will be supplied to 18 senior and 55 junior high schools. A total of about 500 rooms at 77 remaining schools in the city will be equipped with these hi-tech devices in the coming time.
