Over recent years, the Da Nang education sector has taken numerous effective measures to promote the application of information technology (IT) in teaching and learning activities, with a focus on encouraging teachers to enhance their proficiency in IT.

The use of e-lessons
The application of IT in teaching and learning activities has proved effective

Most notably, e-learning resources, including e-textbooks, e-reference materials, e-examination questions and e-lesson plans, are being used for a trial basis at 6 senior high schools, namely Phan Chau Trinh, Tran Phu, Hoang Hoa Tham, Thai Phien, Le Quy Don and Nguyen Thuong Hien.

The e-library system for senior high schools at www.thuvienthptdanang.edu.vn
and another one for primary and junior high schools at www.thuvienhaichau.edu.vn have  proved effective and very convenient.  As a result, the system has really attracted a great deal of attention from teachers and pupils at local schools.

According to the Director of the municipal Department of Education and Training, Mr Nguyen Dinh Vinh, in April 2017, all the local primary and secondary schools have started using the shared school’s management software in which pupils have their study progress stored.

In addition, the shared software for enrolling the 1st and 6th graders has been used effectively in 6 local districts.

A similar model for the enrollment of Year 10 pupils is expected to be put into operation by May this year.

A Literature teacher from the Tran Phu Senior High School highly hailed the e-lessons for bringing significant improvements in the education sector by make learning processes more attractive to pupils. .

Currently, interactive boards, which use touchscreen technologies, are being used effectively at many junior and senior high schools across the city for their teaching and learning activities.

With interactive whiteboards, teachers can easily formulate and plan for their lessons beforehand, and can schedule for specific learning tasks.  While on the hand, teachers will have an easier time delivering on what they have on their lesson plan.

A pupil at the school said that the application of the easy-to-use and useful boards really helps to make his class lessons more fun as this move spurs the enthusiasm amongst him and his classmates to get involved in learning process.

In reality, images and presentations are delivered in full HD display accompanied by interactive computer capabilities.  Pupils in such comfortable learning environment will find syllabus coverage more fun, and most of them won’t miss school or skip classes.

Instead on making the often boring one-way presentation, a teacher can use interactive whiteboards to engage every student in class, thereby helping to increase the level of engagement and interaction between teachers and pupils.  Lessons, hence, will be more vivid, more engaging and certainly more productive.
