Singaporean Team SP-2 wins CDIO Academy Innovation Competition
The conceiving, designing, implementing and operating (CDIO) Academy Innovation Competition 2018 recently concluded at Da Nang’s Duy Tan University (DTU).
This year’s event attracted a total of 16 teams from universities in Asia, including 22 Vietnamese contestants.
The first prize went to Team SP-2 from Singapore Polytechnic in Singapore for their project entitled ‘Dementia Patient Tracking using Sigfox’.
CDIO is a new initiative for education, a system of methods and ways of collecting knowledge, skills in training students in order to respond requirements of business and society.
Formed in 2000 by the US Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the network of universities applying CDIO in the world has been expanding, especially in the US and Northern Europe.
To date, the global CDIO association has over 100 members as leading technological universities. The CDIO association in Asia has 28 members in total. In Vietnam, 5 universities have been admitted to membership in the CDIO association, namely the HCM City-based Vietnam National University, Duy Tan University, Thu Dau Mot University, Da Lat University and FPT University.
