The contest aims to help the students satisfy their passion for scientific research, and turn their theory they learn in their schools into prototypes for technological solutions to real-world problems.

Under the contest’s rules, entries are required to ensure the honesty in scientific research activities, and not win any awards at previous municipal level scientific research contests.

The evaluation of entries is based on main criteria: creativity, research methods, high practicality, economic efficiency, and forms of presentation. In addition, any entry with attached models and real products will be added more points.

In the 5 months since the launch of this contest, the organisers have received a total of 72 entries of students from 7 local universities and junior colleges. 42 of them have been selected to compete in the finals.

According to the organisers, this year’s entries are mainly in such aspects as environment, building materials, Internet of Things, transport, electricity and electronics, economy, fishery, information technology, and energy.

Mr Tran Van Hoang, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Science and Technology, said that the final round and awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in the city in October.

He remarked this year’s event aims to seek creative solutions, and promote the spirit of scientific research and technological applications amongst students from universities, junior colleges and intermediate schools in the city. In addition, the contest will help to bring their scientific research to fruition, and connect their ideas to business incubators and investors.
