Two more Vietnamese universities have been named in a list of Asia’s top universities, bringing to seven the country’s number of universities on the list compiled by the London-based education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

The University of Da Nang

The 2019 list of 505 top universities in Asia was announced on October 23 by the QS.

The seven Vietnamese universities are Viet Nam National University, Ha Noi ranking 124^th, Viet Nam National University, HCM City ranking the 144^th, Ha Noi University of Science and Technology ranking in the group of 261^st-270^th, Ton Duc Thang University ranking in the group of 291^st-300^th, Can Tho University ranking in the group of 351^st-400^th, Hue University and Da Nang University in the group of 451^st-500^th.

Compared with the QS Asia 2018, two Vietnamese universities made significant progress. Specifically, Viet Nam National University, Ha Noi maintained its position as Vietnam’s best university and rose 15 spots from last year. The Ha Noi University of Science and Technology also rose by 30 levels.

HCM City National University slipped two spots compared with last year. Can Tho University moved from the group of 301^st-350^th to the group of 351st-400th. Similarly, Hue University and Da Nang University also fell behind.

Ton Duc Thang University appeared on the list for the first time and ranked in the group of 291^st-300^th.

To measure excellence among Asian universities, QS uses 11 indicators to compare institutions, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, proportion of international students and research quality indicators.
