In addition, the team from the Tran Cao Van Primary School in Da Nang, plus another team from the Le Ngoc Han Primary School in Ho Chi Minh City, together took ‘Excellence’ prizes at the International Robothon 2018.
This year’s international Robothon contest had ‘Next Level’ as its theme, and it was played through VEX IQ and LEGO Mindstorms EV3 hardware platform.
The STEAM International Challenge 2018 took place in China’s Shenzhen City on 25 November.
This year’s event attracted 150 competing teams from 8 Southeast Asian countries and the host China. Amongst the contestants in this event were 37 teams from primary and secondary schools in Ha Noi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Can Tho.
Featuring both International WeCode and Robothon competitions, the event aims to bring STEAM skills to life by tasking students with designing and building either an animation, mobile app or game through a multi-tiered programming competition – or combining Robotics with a game-based engineering challenge, where classroom STEAM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong 21st century skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, computational thinking, and more.
