According to the announcement on Thursday from the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications, Da Nang topped the Viet Nam ICT Index 2018, the ranking on the readiness for information and communications technology development and applications.

The city scored 0.871 points on the 1-point scale, an increase of 0.155 against 2017, followed by Thua Thien-Hue Province with 0.857, and Quang Ninh with 0.837.

In detail, Da Nang took the lead in the indexes of ‘IT technical infrastructure’, ‘IT applications’ and ‘Mechanisms, policies and regulations for IT applications’ with scores of 0.9, 0.926 and 1 respectively.

With regard to the IT applications through online public services, Da Nang finished in 2^nd with a score of 0.811. In 2017, the city only came 5^th with a score of 0.192.

However, the city dropped from 6^th place in 2017 to 17^th place this year with a score of 0.9 in the category of ‘An electronic portal/ page’.

As for the ‘manpower infrastructure’ index, the city’s score decreased from 0.907 in 2017 (6^th place) to 0.666 in 2018 (31^st place).
