Local Year 9 pupil obtains U.S.-granted scholarship worth 280,000US$

With the dream of making difference in her life and conquering something challenging, Bach Thai Minh, a Year 9 pupil form the Luong The Vinh Junior High School in Lien Chieu District, Da Nang brought fame to his family with her scholarship granted by a U.S.-based prestigious school.

In recent days, Minh’s house, located in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, has been full of joys and laughter as she has just received a scholarship worth 280,000 US$ (nearly 6.5 billion VND) for 3-year high school courses at the Amerigo Lexington, a private boarding school in Kentucky.

In June, Minh will go to the U.S. for admission procedures. Studying at this school, of course, provides this Da Nang-born pupil with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to get a world-class education in one of America's most beautiful cities.

In late January, Minh surpassed over 300 candidates across Viet Nam to be admitted to    the Amerigo Lexington High School, which has made her friends tip their hats to her, and really surprised her families and teachers.

In addition to her outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements, the talented pupil impressed the admissions board with her honesty and ardent fondness for learning.

In her writings, Minh did not mention much about her own achievements. Instead of that, she boldly pointed out to her shortcomings which need remedying, amongst of which is his timidity.

Minh believes that the new study environment in the developed country will offer her the opportunity to increase exchanges with friends around the world, enrich her knowledge, and enhance her life skills.

When she was a child, Minh had a special passion for English which is very attractive to her though music, films, and especially books and stories. Sharing her learning secrets, Minh happily said: “I read a lot, and regularly listen to music and watch movies in English, also study on YouTube, and attend English classes at foreign language centres”.

In particular, in an attempt to enhance her listening and speaking skills, Minh usually participates in English clubs, and regularly joins interactions with her teachers in English. Thanks to this, the teenager has gradually enhanced her pronunciation skills, and especially her confidence in communication.

Minh's mother Do Thi Kim Anh said proudly, since her study at pre-school, Minh has also recorded academic results every year and won high prizes school, district and municipal-level competitions.

In his remarks, Mr Bui Duy Quoc, the Luong The Vinh school’s principal, said, Minh has shown her talent, especially out-running 100 other pupils at all grades across the school to win the first prize of the recently-held Golden Bell Challenge competition. “The fact that Minh’s admission to the U.S school is a great honor for herself, her family and the school. Minh sets a bright example for generations of pupils at Luong The Vinh school to follow.
