Da Nang-born talented 29-year-old man Nguyen Ba Canh Son has quitted his dream job in the U.S.A, and returned to his hometown to create the “made-in-Da Nang” electric motorbikes labeled Dat Bike Weaver.

Late August 2008, Nguyen Ba Canh Son, a Year 12 pupil from the Le Quy Don Senior High School for the Gifted, brought home a silver medal at the 20th International Informatics Olympiad held in Egypt. That achievement offered him an opportunity to have 2 years of study later at the US University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, a public research university in Illinois and the flagship institution of the University of Illinois System.

At the end of 2017, Son decided to return to his roots after his “10-year adventurous journey” in the U.S.A, with a Master's degree in computer science and precious experience he accumulated during his working in Silicon Valley, a region in the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California that serves as a global center for high technology, innovation and social media.

Upon Son’s return to his hometown, he was impressed by tremendous changes in the city’s modern, spacious traffic infrastructure system. However, the young man raised concern over many noisy and dusty streets packed with a growing number of vehicles. This fact, indeed, inspired Son to find a transport solution that is both environmentally friendly and suitable for Vietnamese people’s demand.

Afterwards, Son returned to the U.S.A to find some ways to make his dream come true. In February 2018, in California, Son began researching and manufacturing the stereotype of his electric motorbikes which is really compact, cost-effective and environmentally friendly.

Thanks to useful pieces of advice and support from his close friends and prestigious experts in the U.S.A, the product was created and received high praise from the public here.

Having returned to Da Nang, he embarked upon manufacturing activities. The ground floor of the downtown Han Market has become an electric motorbike production and product research workshop.

At the beginning of 2019, Son persuaded an American friend to co-found the Dat Bike brand and launch the first commercial vehicle called Weaver. This is the first electric motorbike produced in Viet Nam that boasts a higher acceleration than gasoline-powered ones used currently.

This product has earned a trademark right registered at the Viet Nam National Office of Intellectual Property. Up to now, Dat Bike has received orders of 20 electric motorbikes in total, many of which have been put into use.

His “brainchild” features many special advantages. With 2.5kWh battery, Dat Bike Weaver's battery is at least 2 times the capacity of the regular eBike on the market. This vehicle can take its driver beyond 100km on every charge.

An efficient chain drive system inspired from motorcycles is successfully integrated with this electric vehicle. Weaver reaches 70km/h with blazing acceleration.

The 4500W motor produces 7hp for the ride. Weaver supplies abundant power to carry 2 adults effortlessly.

Ultra-fast charging technology reduces charging time to just 3 hours. Only after a short time, the Dat Bike Weaver is ready to accompany the driver all day.

Besides, Lithium-ion batteries are designed to the standard of cars that last up to 10 years.

Last, but not least, Dat Bike Weaver is 100% electric driven to eliminate toxic substances that contaminate the air we breathe.

Given its outstanding strengths, Weaver can overcome the limitations of electric motorbikes used currently in terms of design, battery life, speed and movement capacity on different terrains.

“Great acceleration, very comfortable handling and a nice minimalist look!”, a foreign avid motorcyclist highly praised.

Son said, “My desire is to see “made-in-Da Nang” Dat Bike Weaver being widely known by the public. In the near future, if the product gain even more trust from the local market and is widely used in Da Nang, it will create environmentally friendly image. I myself will ceaselessly enhance the quality of my product to meet growing customers’ demands”.
