Microsoft helps to turn Da Nang into 'smart city'
In the coming time, Microsoft will soon deploy technology support programmes in Da Nang in order to help turn it into a ‘smart city’. They are Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, Microsoft Showcase Schools, Microsoft Disaster Response and Kid Protection on Cyber Space. Also, a wide range of support activities for smart city building will be maintained.
The news was released at a seminar on smart city solutions jointly organised on Thursday by the municipal Department of Information and Communications and Microsoft Vietnam.
In his remarks at the event, Pham The Truong, the Country General Manager of Microsoft Vietnam, affirmed the fact that the world’s information technology industry is changing at a rapid pace, with the level of change in the next 3 years being equal to that of the past 15 years. In particular, the digital sector plays a leading role in speeding up the overall socio-economic progress.
It is worth praising that Da Nang has taken the lead in Viet Nam in terms of technological application capacity.
Also within the framework of the seminar, representatives from Microsoft presented some smart cities solutions. Notable amongst them were the ‘Safe city’ solution based on the Internet of Things technology aimed at enhancing security through images from surveillance cameras and mobile phones, the ‘Smart transport’ for managing parking lots and means of public transportation, and ‘Smart Building’ for analysing data, enhancing the durability of buildings for their better service life, optimising space and minimising the environmental impact on buildings.
Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Quang Thanh suggested that, in the coming time, Microsoft cooperate effectively with the city in collecting and processing data, hereby creating the firm foundation for the ‘smart city’ programmes and applications.
