Besides, 9th grader Vo Duc Hieu, 6th grader Dao Trong Kien and 5th grader Dinh Ngoc Hang Nga, all from the Duc Tri School claimed medals and received certificates of merit in recognition of their rankings amongst top 100 outstanding contestants at the WeCode International Competition.

The STEAM International Challenge 2019 took place in China’s Guangzhou City on 24 November.

Themed ‘2050 Food Effect’, this year’s event attracted 144 competing teams from 8 Southeast Asian countries and the host China. Amongst contestants were 21 Vietnamese teams competing in the International Robothon Competition, and 11 Vietnamese contestants in the International WeCode Competition.

This international event consisted of International WeCode and Robothon competitions. The intention was to bring STEAM skills to life by tasking students with designing and building either an animation, mobile app or game through a multi-tiered programming competition – or combining Robotics with a game-based engineering challenge, where classroom STEAM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong 21st century skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, computational thinking, and more.
