Co-organised by UrbanactionsHK and the School of Architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), the annual international public space design ideas competition is open to all the undergraduate students regularly attending courses in Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Arts and Design.

This year’s competition aims to encourage students to provide innovative ideas to upgrade four existing public spaces in the district of Central in Hong Kong namely Wa On Lane, Kau U Fong Children’s Playground, Cochrane Street and Lok Hing Lane.

Da Nang’s 4-member team consisted of Tran Minh Sang, Phan Ngoc Tuong Vi, Pham Dinh Ho Trong An, and Tran Nguyen Gia Han, all of whom are studying at the Faculty of Architecture of the Da Nang University of Science and Technology.

Da Nang students with their ‘Vision - Awesomeness - Soul - Happiness’ entry have provided innovative ideas to upgrade the existing public space, Lok Hing Lane, in the district of Central in Hong Kong, into the story-telling architecture work.

Da Nang’s entry allows to create more space for pedestrians through carefully positioning the stairs, landscaping, and seating, as well as to develop the system of canopies built from colorful canvas.

Also, on the small lane leading to the side entrance of the bridge, there will be rounded pavilions in different height and density welcoming the pedestrians to take a seat and relax.
