Over recent years, the Da Nang University of Science and Technology has been one of the pioneers of Da Nang's higher education institutions to develop new training programmes, and the school has produced the most employable graduates. They are expected to be highly sought after by recruiters from multinational corporations and foreign companies which want to shift away from China to Viet Nam.

In particular, the University is developing 3 new training programmes about computer engineering, data science and artificial intelligence, and aviation engineering during the 2020-2021 academic year.

By attending the new training courses, students will be provided fundamental knowledge relating to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, or Industry 4.0, including Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Big Data (Big Data).

Dr Ngo Minh Tri, Head of the University’s Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, said, according to the latest report by TopDev, an IT job recruitment network, and the Forbes Vietnam, it is forecasted that, by 2021, Viet Nam will be in urgent need of nearly 200,000 IT employees in such aspects as data science, embedded development, machine learning and Artificial intelligence.

In active response to this burgeoning trend, the University has taken initiative to enroll students in the Computer Engineering Major from this 2020-2021 school year.

Dr Tri said the Computer Engineering training programme focusses on training specialised knowledge and skills in hardware and software system design and development. This major promises to become one of the "hot" training programmes in the competitive domestic and international labour market.

Besides, the University of Science and Technology has been the first higher education institution in Viet Nam to open the Aviation Mechanical Engineering training programme as part of its cooperative agreement with the US-based Universal Alloy Corporation (UAC), the developer of the 170 million US$ Sunshine aerospace components factory operating in the Da Nang Hi-tech Park.

Mr Kevin Loebbaka, Chief Operating Officer for UAC, noted that, under the cooperative agreement between the University and UAC, the US corportation will pour the money into the upgrade of the University’s facilities, and providing modern teaching equipment and laboratories for the University. In addition, some aviation mechanical engineering experts overseas will be sent to the University to join teaching staff here for these special training courses.

Meanwhile, the University pledges to produce more than 1,000 qualified graduates in such aspects as mechanics, electricity, electronics and automation, as well as to develop more than 2,000 technicians working in support industries in the future.
