A total of more than 260,000 school pupils across Da Nang started a 2020 – 2021 academic year in a very special way with a virtual programme broadcast on the Da Nang TV at the same time with ceremonies to welcome in the new school year in other localities.

In particular, a congratulatory letter full of best wishes extended by Viet Nam's National Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong to educational staff, teachers and students across the country on this special occasion was highlighted at this virtual event.
The country’s leader praised the great efforts of the national education sector to respond to Covid-19, saying that despite the pandemic severely disrupting face-to-face classes and educational activities during the last school year, the sector actively and promptly took drastic action to effectively prevent the spread of the coronavirus in schools while completing academic plans well.
Addressing the event, municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh said he hoped the city's education and training sector would achieve best possible results from teaching and learning tasks. He also pledged that the city authorities would pay more heed to develop educational infrastructure and equipment across the city in a bid to create a healthy and safe learning environment for school pupils.

Under the city’s pandemic prevention and control measures, schools across the city will open their online classes for their pupils and students from 7 and 13 September. After that, the municipal Department Education and Training will announce the school comeback date for face-to-face classes.
