Over recent years, Da Nang has seen a boom in the number of schools with modern architectural designs.

Today’s schools no longer keep pupils separate from the rest of the world. Instead, these innovative buildings teach them to take part in the world around them, from the incorporation of natural light, to massive windows and open floor plans that move away from the more traditional rows of desks.

The new Dam Quang Trung Junior High School set on extended Nguyen Tat Thanh Street is a typical example.

Developed on the build-transfer (BT) basis, the school was put into use on 29 April 2015.

Covering an area of 16,000m2, the over 30 billion VND school has been designed modernly and scientifically, with 39 classrooms, separate parking areas provided for teachers and pupils, entrance and security gates, and a green space.

Also, security cameras have been installed in the school in order to ensure the safety for both teachers and pupils in school.

Mrs Nguyen Thi Thanh, former Headmistress of the Dam Quang Trung Junior High School, said that this is the most beautiful and modern school in the city that she has seen and worked during her working life.

Also in 2015, the new Phan Chau Trinh Senior High School was built on an area of 1,800m2 on Phan Chau Trinh Street.

The 90.6 billion VND, 4-storey building has a total of 57 classrooms.

Meanwhile, teachers and pupils of the Ly Tu Trong Primary School will welcome their 2020-2021 academic year at a new spacious facility located on Ly Tu Trong Street after more than one year of temporarily using the Children's Cultural Palace for their teaching and learning activities.

The over 87 billion VND school features 30 new classrooms equipped with air conditioning units and electrical fans, along with function rooms, a multi-use sports facility, and a swimming pool, plus 8 toilets.

This school is one of fascinating architectural highlights of Da Nang.

Mr Nguyen Dong Hai whose his child is studying in the Ly Tu Trong School excitedly said he was very impressed with the modern architecture school. Mr Hai remarked that the school’s design incorporated open areas, greenery and natural lighting, all of which improve pupils’ outcomes and raise their awareness about the environmental protection.

Similarly, a new 78 billion VND Nguyen Van Thoai Senior High School in Cam Le District is ready to welcome its pupils for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Covering an area of 21,257m2, the newly-built school features 30 classrooms, providing better learning space for about 1,200 pupils in total.

Although the school has yet to be officially inaugurated, pictures taken in the new school have gone viral on social media with high praise received from both pupils and their parents for the impressive thoroughness in the design and its very beautiful interior spaces.

Most recently, new school buildings and playgrounds are popping up all over the landscape. These facilities, with their large windows, open floor plans and unique designs, will keep pupils interested in learning as well as improve the quality of teaching and learning activities.
