International corporations offer support packages of over US$ 480,000 for startups
The Qualcomm Viet Nam, the Thinkzone Ventures and the Singapore-based Beowulf Blockchain Group have together pledged more than US$ 480,000 worth of support for Vietnamese startups.
The information was released at the ‘Business Connection Day: Startup and Opportunities to Take Advantage of new Connection Protocol’ event which was hosted by the Office of National Program 844 under the Ministry of Science and Technology in late August.
The Qualcomm Viet Nam recently launched the Qualcomm Vietnam Innovation Challenge 2020.
This Challenge will enable the development of Viet Nam’s rising technology ecosystem by identifying and nurturing innovative small- and medium-sized companies who are designing products in 5G, IoT, artificial intelligence, smart cities, wearable devices, and multimedia utilizing Qualcomm® mobile platforms and technologies.
All entries must be submitted online at https://www.qualcomm.com/company/locations/vietnam/vietnam-innovation-challenge/registration until late September.
Up to 10 shortlisted companies will receive grants of US$10,000 each to support incubation. At the conclusion of the incubation period, the top 3 finalists will receive additional cash prize of US$ 100,000, $75,000, and $50,000 respectively.
Qualcomm Technologies will reimburse US$ 2,500 for each utility patent application filed with either the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or the Intellectual Property Office of Viet Nam which relate to proposals for QVIC 2020-2021.
Qualcomm Technologies will provide workshops and training on a range of topics such as operations, customer development, competitive analysis, product management, global market entry strategy, mastering the pitch, intellectual property, and fundraising.
In addition, the the Startup Viet Nam Foundation in collaboration with the Five9 Viet Nam recently launched the ThinkZone Accelerator Batch 03.
Participants will have the opportunity to receive funding and support services of US$50,000 from ThinkZone, as well as access to a global network of 50 venture capital funds.
