University of Da Nang needed upgrading into national-level school for the city's growth
Under the Politburo-adopted Resolution No 43-NQ/TW regarding the Da Nang’s development to 2030 with a vision to 2045 dated 24 January, 2016, the city is making it more important as a major centre of social and economic activities in Viet Nam and South East Asia at large, and becoming a centre for entrepreneurship and innovation in Asia. Based these landmark future goals, it is a must-do to upgrade the existing University of Da Nang (UDN) into a national-level tertiary establishment ‘the sooner the better’.

Da Nang government will ask for permission from Viet Nam's national government to establish the National University of Da Nang on the basis of restructuring and upgrading its existing member schools in tandem with commencing work on Da Nang University urban area, UDN Director Assoc. Prof. PhD. Nguyen Ngoc Vu recently revealed.
In the coming time, as a positive move to enhance the city’s competitiveness and investment attraction capacity, UDN will concentrate on making more innovations in training programmes on Da Nang-set five spearhead economic sectors, namely travel and high quality services associated with resort real estate; seaports and airports; hi-tech industry associated with creative urban construction and startups; IT, electronics and telecommunications associated with the digital economy; and hi-tech agriculture and fisheries.
Simply put, the top priorities will be given to training human resources for digital technology and automation, and high-quality services and logistics.
In further details, the Digital Technology and Automation category will feature IT, electronics-telecommunications, automation, data transmission, artificial intelligence, big data and internet of things (IoT).
Meanwhile, the High-quality Services and Logistics category will include finance, banking, multimodal transport, types of advanced transportation and delivery, ecommerce, high -quality tourism and hospitality services.
Also, other prominent tasks will include the upgrade of VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education into an international university and the establishment of the Da Nang University of Medicine and Pharmacy from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the UDN.
The UDN is now offering a combined total of 20 training programmes meeting the international standards. The university nationally ranks third in terms of the number of accredited training programmes receiving quality assurance certificates from the AUN-QA and France’s Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur (CTI). Based on these fruitful outcomes, more special heed will be paid to enhancing quality assurance and international accreditation for more future remarkable strides.
Besides, the UDN will build up specific strategies for developing high-quality human resources for the city in a systematic manner.
At the high school level, innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) activities will be promoted in order to in keep up with the trend of modern education development, and adapting to the burgeoning Industry 4.0.
As for the higher education, the red carpet will be rolled out to the most highly qualified teaching staff to develop high-quality human resources for the city in the latest training approaches, regardless of public or private tertiary establishments.
