The Da Nang team received a cash of 70 million VND (over 3,000 USD) to turn their waste collection idea into fruition.

Most recently, Biya Robot has been used in a trial basis in the UNESCO-recognised Cu Lao Cham Biosphere Reserve located in Tan Hiep Island Commune in Quang Nam Province's Hoi An.

This robot is able to welcome and talk to visitors, as well as remind them to appropriately classify waste for the sake of the marine environment.

Launched in July by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the ‘Youth Innovative Ideas for an Ocean without Plastic’ programme aimed to promote the key role of youth in the sustainable development of Viet Nam.

This landmark programme was within the framework of the Youth and Innovation 4 Ocean Initiative implemented by UNESCO in partnership with the Coca Cola Foundation.
