The most noticeable features of the Play-based Learning Activities for Young learners (iPLAY) project have been introduced to Da Nang primary pupils.

Developed by Belgium-headquartered VVOB, the project is being carried out in Da Nang and seven other Vietnamese localities during the 2019 -2023 period.

The project aims to supports the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) to achieve the objectives of the new curriculum by integrating Learning through Play (LtP) pedagogies into its in-service primary teacher professional development (TPD) system. 

Under the project, focus is on developing pedagogical materials for teachers to learn how to embed playful learning activities in their teaching of the new curriculum, and for school leaders and district education officials to create an enabling environment for LtP.

In combination with five large-scale in-service trainings and school-based TPD, iPLAY develops teachers’ attitudes, knowledge and skills to incorporate LtP-pedagogies in the classroom.

Applying a three-step scaling strategy in Viet Nam, iPLAY will reach about 15,000 schools with a combined total of 3 million pupils and more than 150,000 teachers across the country by 2023.

To mark this occasion, there primary schools, namely Ong Ich Duong in Cam Le District), Hoa Bac in Hoa Vang District and Hoa Vang in Lien Chieu District received meaningful iPLAY packages.

In reality, play-based pedagogies are proven to help children gain a breadth of skills, thus fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving competencies that are crucial in today’s fast-changing world.
