M-Medic was developed in 2018 by Nguyen Long Giang, 32, who had experience in working at the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital for 7 years, and in establishing and managing a general testing centre in Da Nang for 5 years.

Giang said he came up with the idea of the project after seeing many lactating mothers experiencing postpartum depression. In addition, many Da Nang-based public hospitals sometimes face patient overload and, therefore, doctors find it very hard to handle a large number of out-patients. Meanwhile, many patients, especially pregnant women, also feel very exhausted and tired of waiting for their turn for examinations there.

Therefore, Giang decided to quit his well-paid job at the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital and develop the ‘Happy Mom’ project in 2018.

After that, the ‘Happy Mom’ project was renamed ‘M-Medic’ after joining a six-month incubation course offered by the Da Nang Business Incubator (DNES). Additionally, M-Medic focused on providing general healthcare services for different types of patients instead of only lactating mothers. In March 2019, the M-Medic JSC was officially set up in Thanh Khe District.

By using M-Medic app, users can easily connect with all private and family clinics, private laboratories and pharmacies, and private health insurance service providers, across Da Nang.

Till date, M-Medic has connected with about 30 private clinics and 2 testing centres in Da Nang.

Based on the intelligent medical technology platform, M-Medic allows customers to make appointments for medical check-ups, treatment and tests, access consultations about medical problems, and manage their own health and their families’ through electronic medical records.

All invoices, test results and prescriptions will be integrated into electronic medical records and stored on app. Then, all will be transferred to insurance companies that will be in charge of repaying the costs of medical examinations and treatment to patients. All patient medical records will be kept confidential.

Of special note, M-Medic offers at-home healthcare services for child patients.

Last year, M-Medic was selected one of the seven startup projects to have received 160 million VND in funding from Da Nang government to boost the perfection of its technology and its deeper penetration into the market.

M-Medic was one of the ten start-up projects to have received financial aid from Da Nang government to attend Viet Nam's National Innovative Entrepreneurship Day (TECHFEST Viet Nam 2020) in Ha Noi.

In early January 2021, M-Medic was selected to join the ‘Open Innovation for Startups' programme funded by the Shinhan Future's Lab under South Korea’s Shinhan Financial Group.

By 2022, M-Medic will have etched its name in Vietnamese largest cities namely Ha Noi and HCM City, and by 2025, it will have made its expansion into other ASEAN countries.
