Work has recently commenced on the Fujikin-Da Nang Research and Development (R&D) Centre, the 7th Japanese-invested project in the Da Nang Hi-tech Park. Developed by Japan-headquartered Fujikin Inc with a total capital of US$35 million, this project features a human resources training deal inked by this business and the Da Nang University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT) on the provision of manpower for some key industries.

Fujikin prioritizes recruiting engineers graduating from UD-DUT and assigning its experts to cooperate with scientists to research and develop applications of advanced technologies such as robots, unmanned aerial vehicles, medical equipment, hydrogen energy applications, nano, intelligence artificial (AI) and new materials.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Quang Vinh, the UD-DUT Rector said that the two sides have joined forces to build an R&D research room at this tertiary establishment’s Smart Campus building with modern equipment, thus giving students an opportunity to access to new technology for their scientific research performances.

The University has offered internship programmes and job opportunities for its graduates at many prestigious enterprises at home and abroad such as SMC, Hitachi Systems in Japan, UAC in the U.S., EVN and THACO.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, the UD-DUT Vice Rector, amid Viet Nam's deeper global integration with the signing with new-generation free trade agreements such as EVFTA and CCTPP, Da Nang boasts a geographical position and many potential advantages to attract investment inflows from foreign corporations and businesses in the ongoing trend of investment transformation.

In reality, the school-enterprise cooperation relationship is of greater significance so that enterprises can predict the supply and demand of human resources from project preparation and investment stages.

Meanwhile, the school can invite seasoned experts to co-guide students, participate in the design, critique and update of training programmes in tandem with sponsoring equipment for practice and experiments. This is one of the important conditions to improve the quality of training, linking theory to practice, especially in engineering and technology fields.

Recently, many faculties of the University like Advanced Science and Technology have implemented training programmes under the Capstone Project model, a transformative educational experience predicated on student-centered ped-agogy.

According to Dr. Ngo Minh Tri, the Dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, this tertiary establishment has taken a step to partner with businesses to design virtual experimental systems, thereby allowing learners to access lectures, online seminars or video recorded right in the actual working and production environment of the business.

Notably, UD-DUT is the first university in Viet Nam to have opened majors in training aviation mechanical engineers.

Till date, the 170 million US$ Sunshine aerospace components factory, developed by the US-based Universal Alloy Corporation Asia Pte. LTD-UAC, has been the largest project in supporting industries in the Da Nang Hi-tech Park.

This large foreign corporation has made a commitment to investing in modern experimental and practical equipment for laboratories located at the school. UD-DUT has entered a deal to supply at least 1,200 engineers and high-tech workers to this project from now to 2023.

When the supply-demand connection is guaranteed, the parties will bring many benefits to schools, businesses and students, thereby increasing the city's attractiveness to lure investors with sustainable development projects.
