Conference on nuclear science, technology opens
The 14th Viet Nam Conference on Nuclear Science and Technology (VINANST-14) opened on December 9 via videoconference, drawing a large number Vietnamese and foreign experts, scientists, researchers and management officials working in different fields of nuclear science and technology.

Addressing the event, Director of the Viet Nam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM) Tran Chi Thanh said that the VINANST-14 is an important scientific event for the Vietnamese nuclear energy scientist community, and an effort to encourage scientific researches and the development of application of atomic energy in the context that Viet Nam is working to promote atomic energy for peaceful purposes.
The event, which will run until December 10, comprises 14 sessions focusing on various topics, including applications of data-driven methods and AI in nuclear reactor engineering, and reactor neutron beam applications and some results at the Da Lat research reactor.
In the field of health care, Assoc. Prof. Le Ngoc Ha from 108 Military Central Hospital delivered a report themed “Radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals in Nuclear Medicine in Viet Nam: Current status and Prospective”.
Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Nhi Dien, head of the Dalat Nuclear Research Reactor (NRI) also briefed participants on the status of the Project on Research Center for Nuclear Science and Technology and Proposing main research and application directions of the New Research Reactor. The centre, comprising a 10 MWt reactor, is a joint project of Viet Nam and Russia.
First held in 1996 by the VINATOM, the VINANST is a biennial event is the biggest of its kind in atomic research, development and application in Viet Nam.
