On Monday morning, 1st graders across Da Nang began returning to in-person classes, except for those living in areas at COVID-19 alert level 3. Primary schools citywide have made vital preparations to reopen after the months-long closure due to COVID-19.

According to the school regulations, parents only pick up or drop off their children at schools’ gates. Students will undergo compulsory body temperature measurements and wash their hands with the use of sanitizer gel before entering classrooms.
During their study period at the school, students are reminded to follow the 5K recommendations, and take breaks in the classroom.
On the first day of school, teachers held a friendly and comfortable welcome ceremony for first graders and gave them with small gifts and candies, aimed at helping them forget timidity and bewilderment.
Along with first graders, this morning, students in grades 8 and 9 also went back to school for face-to-face instruction. COVID-19 safety and health protocols in line with the guidance from the Ministry of Education and Training, and the municipal departments of Education and Training, and Health are taken seriously by the schools.
According to the municipal Department of Education and Training, this morning, 19 primary schools (19%) and 10 secondary schools (17%) in Alert Level 3 areas were not allowed to resume their in-person instruction.
Three senior high schools and one continuing education center in the city switched to online teaching due to the alert level of COVID-19. One senior high school offered on-campus instruction for 12th graders, and remote instruction for 10th and 11th graders (due to many students are living in areas at COVID-19 alert level 3). About 75% of the total first graders citywide went to school on the first day of in-person classes.
