Such aforementioned remarkable targets were announced by Da Nang People's Committee Vice President Tran Phuoc Son at the opening ceremony of Viettel's 5G service trial in Da Nang on Monday.

Da Nang is now the second locality in Central Viet Nam and the 11th in Viet Nam at large to have Viettel 5G services.

During the trial process, Viettel is using Samsung’s advanced 5G solutions to power its commercial network and to enable users in Da Nang to experience the full benefits of 5G services.

The companies will demonstrate the high-performance and capabilities of Samsung’s latest 5G solutions including 64T64R Massive MIMO radio on Viettel’s commercial trial network in Da Nang.

Speaking at the Monday ceremony, Vice Chairman Son said that, under the Politburo- issued Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW on the construction and development of Da Nang by 2030, with a vision towards 2045, the IT, electronics and telecommunications industry associated with the digital economy is identified as one of the five key aspects that need priority for further development in the city.

In particular, digital transformation is still a ‘new driving force’ and an opportunity to solve the existing ‘bottlenecks’ as well as create breakthroughs in the city’s development process by 2025, with a vision towards 2030,

By 2025, the digital economy will account for at least 20% of the city's gross regional domestic product (GRDP), of which the IT industry will account for at least 10%, and especially, at least 50% of the city's residential areas have 5G service coverage so that people can enjoy high-quality digital services.

“Viettel has continued to prioritise building 5G infrastructure in key areas of the city,” said Tao Duc Thang, Viettel Deputy General Director.

For the time being, Da Nang people can experience 5G Viettel network in such city-inner areas as a section of Bach Dang Street from the Novotel Hotel to the APEC Park, the Da Nang Administrative Centre, the headquarters of the Da Nang Party Committee, the Museum of Da Nang, the Da Nang General Science Library, Han Market, the Rong (Dragon) Bridge and the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture).

Viettel will prioritise the construction of 5G infrastructure to expand 5G coverage to the city’s key areas, including the Da Nang centralised IT and Hi-tech parks, accelerating investment attraction and socio-economic development in the city.

Viettel has pioneered in providing the first 5G service in Viet Nam. At present, 11 Vietnamese cities and provinces have 5G Viettel coverage, namely Ha Noi, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria–Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Thua Thien–Hue and Da Nang.

People in these areas can experience 5G for free with unlimited capacity, on many 5G support devices. The 5G Viettel network in the above areas has a stable data download speed of 600-700 Mbps, the highest of up to more than 1Gbps.
