Currently, teachers across Da Nang are experiencing high work pressure of having to combine offline and online classes as a result of the pandemic situation. However, they still make every effort to well perform their assigned tasks.
For nearly a month, a teacher of the Vo Thi Sau Primary School based in Lien Chieu District has come to the school twice a day for two in-person classes. To deal with the rising number of infections in schools, she has had to monitor and regularly update her students' health status.
Most notably, many teachers who are confirmed COVID-19 cases and primary contacts have also tried their best to provide online classes for their students.
Headmistress of the Le Lai Primary School in Ngu Hanh Son District Le Thi Hai Yen remarked that, in the new normal, schools in every way adapt flexibly so that all students can participate in learning. Most teachers are facing many difficulties because they have to constantly switch between two forms of offline and online teaching.
“Different from the secondary school level, it is difficult for primary school students to concentrate on their schoolwork when it is online instead of in person. Therefore, aside from classes which record many F0s and F1s, our school tries to maintain face-to-face classes. In addition, the school provides online classes for F0s and F1s, which adds pressure for teachers but ensure students' knowledge in the current context" said Mrs. Yen.
Similarly, the Nguyen Phan Vinh Primary School in Son Tra District is flexible in providing virtual and in-person classes for its students.
Headmaster of the Nguyen Phan Vinh school Ta Van Cuong said “Thanks to the flexible use of both online and in-person forms, even though the pandemic situation is complicated, the teaching still ensures progress, and students gain knowledge to prepare for the upcoming year-end exam. It is precious that many school teachers still persist with online classes although they are infected with COVID-19 or primary contacts”.
In a similar vein, Mrs. Nguyen Tran Le Hong Trinh, the Headmistress of the Vo Thi Sau Primary School in Lien Chieu District, underlined that the constant transition of between offline and online teaching made it difficult for teachers to impart knowledge, as well as create an additional burden for teachers.
Teacher Nguyen Thanh Ky, Headmaster of the Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary School based in Lien Chieu District, said that the teaching and learning work has never been as difficult as it is now.
His school always keeps an eye on students throughout their time at school with the motto of trying to create a safe learning environment for students during in-person classes.
“When a teacher gets infected with the novel coronavirus, the school will assign someone else to replace him or her. In case no replacement teacher is found, the school will provide online classes” added he.
Teacher Ky affirmed that the return of students to school was an urgent requirement, but it is necessary to have a synchronous solution between the family, the school and the society.
He remarked “While the school tries to keep students safe and teachers actively follow the class, parents need to strengthen guidance and train their children in COVID-19 prevention and control skills, comply with 5K recommendations, and let their children fully participate in face-to-face classes for quality learning”.
