Da Nang schools spur up strengths of training core majors

In the enrollment season of 2023, a number of colleges and universities in Da Nang will continue to take advantage of their strengths in key majors to attract potential candidates.

In addition to public universities under the management of University of Da Nang (UD), private universities annually enroll a large number of candidates. In 2023, Duy Tan University, the largest private tertiary establishment in Central Viet Nam, kept the same admission methods and admission criteria as in 2022.

According to Ph.D. Vo Thanh Hai, Standing Vice Rector of the Duy Tan University, the school's facilities have been in compatible with international training programme standards to meet the needs of high-quality training.

Also, the school meets the requirements of industry accreditation according to the world's prestigious standards such as ABET, TedQual and AACSB. It has secured a berth in the top 500 school in the THE Rankings and the top 145 QS Asia University Rankings.

The school now boasts strong industries such as those in the field of information technology; health; tourism; business management and foreign languages. In addition, the school focus on programmes with international elements such as on-site study abroad programmes with Troy University, KueKa University in the US or technology transfer programmes with foreign countries, and student exchanges.

Meanwhile, under the human resource development project for the private sector in a number of key industries and fields of Da Nang to 2030, with a vision towards 2045, the Da Nang administration also oriented the development of a training network in accordance with social needs.

Specifically, by 2030, the city will have 36 vocational education institutions, including 18 colleges, 6 intermediate schools and 12 vocational education centres.

With a vision towards 2045, the city will expand the scale of key schools, striving that for 20% of the schools and 30% of the vocational training establishments will meet regional and international standards.

Catching up with this trend, colleges in the city will continue to affirm their positions in a number of training professions and plan to boost student enrollment in 2023.

Currently, 75% of the training programmes offered by the Da Nang Vocational College are highly practical. The school has many training workshops and laboratories for students to practice and improve their skills.

In the enrollment season of 2023, the school is expected to enrolls about 1,700 students for both intermediate and college levels, focusing on training the school's key majors.

Included are automobile technology, electromechanical engineering, electronics, industrial electricity that meet international standards, along with industrial electricity, industrial electrical installation and control, welding in line with Asian standards.

Similarly, the Junior College of Food and Food under the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development focuses on developing 23 majors, many of which are given a special heed such as food technology, food processing techniques, restaurant operations and clean agricultural production.

These are the key occupations that the school promotes enrollment and training based on the assessment of labour market analysis over recent years.

After their graduation, students will find suitable job positions in the field of restaurants, hotels and high-tech agriculture in the Da Nang market, and the Central Viet Nam- Central Highlands regions at large.
