The Da Nang Department of Transport has been one of the pioneers in Da Nang to streamline administrative procedures over recent years with a focus on constantly improving  its service quality, including enhancing the adoption of digital public services. This marks an important step for reforming administrative procedures and implementing e-Government. In particular, the use of QR Codes brings conveniences to local residents.

The e-ticket bus system using QR Code for Da Nang’s Public Transport has proved effective as transportation services are available to users anywhere, anytime and any equipment to book bus tickets, making it easier for the public to make payments in the transportation sector. In addition,  e-ticket allows its users to save time spent on buying tickets. In addition, e-tickets can be helpful if you lose and forget paper tickets often.

Since 2021, the municipal Department of Transport has introduced QR codes on vehicle badges as an added security measure, making it easier for licencing officers to check licences are valid, while offering an additional layer of peace of mind for passengers to know the vehicle and driver they are using are correctly licenced.   It will also make it more difficult for vehicle licences and plates to be counterfeited. The QR code can be accessed using a smart phone camera. The code will take the user to a secure website that will show them the vehicle and driver details, expiry date of the licence and verify the licence is valid. QR codes on drivers badges will make it simple to verify that the vehicle licence hasn’t expired or been faked.

Besides, QR Codes on cars for driving practice has introduded in Da Nang since April 2022. Furthermore, the municipal Department of Transport has focused on implementing best practices for the use of QR Codes in the issuance of construcion permits, marking a big step toward a successful digital transformation journey as well as bringing many practical effects to both the transportation sector and local residents.

The municipal Department of Transport will continue utilising QR codes for vehicle management and other aspects in the transportation sector in the following years. Greater efforts will be made to increase Da Nang public engagement with services online in order to promote digital transformation for the city’s sustainable development.
