Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen hosted a reception on Thursday for Mr. Shinobu Inanaga, President of the Nagasaki University in Japan, and university professors.

During her meeting with Japanese guests, Vice Chairwoman Yen thanked President Shinobu Inanaga for his active support for the implementation of a project on organising training courses on nutrition and school health in Da Nang in the coming time.

She highlighted the significance of the project in contributing to changing the work of childcare and education. She pledged that the municipal authorities will make every effort to ensure the effective implementation of the project.

In reply, President Shinobu Inanaga expressed his pleasure and thanked the city leaders for promoting the implementation of the project quickly. He expressed his hope that the project will contribute to strengthening the bilateral relationships with Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole.

Under the Nagasaki University-funded project, training courses on basic and useful knowledge about nutrition and school health will be provided for administrators and nutritionists at kindergartens and primary schools in Da Nang in both face-to-face and online forms.

The Nagasaki University will send its lecturers and interpreters, and provide teaching materials. Meanwhile, the Da Nang Department of Education and Training will be responsible for arranging classroom locations, gathering trainees, and managing classes.

After passing the final exam, trainees will receive certificates co-signed by the Nagasaki University and the municipal Department of Education and Training.

The project is expected to last for 2-3 years until the programme is accessible to all beneficiaries from preschools and primary schools citywide.
