DevDay Da Nang 2023 attracts over 20,000 participants

The DevDay Da Nang 2023 returned on Sunday after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Co-organised by the Axon Active Viet Nam Co., Ltd and the University of Science and Technology under the University of Da Nang, the event saw the participation of more than 45 domestic and foreign companies which introduced the latest technologies, products and services in the technology industry.

It also attracted about 50 famous speakers from various fields such as blockchain, cloud computing, cybersecurity and information technology and career orientation, along with more than 20,000 students, programmers, software engineers, and others.

Technology lovers to the programme had the opportunity to visit technology booths to interact directly with technology products and experience the hottest technology trends; learn about career opportunities and recruitment demand of enterprises; and attend group discussion sessions and in-depth technical seminars on technology.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh, Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications, in 2022, the city’s information and communication sector earned VND34,300 billion worth of revenue, and reached US$132 million in software exports earnings, up 34% over the same period in 2021. The digital economy contributed 17% to the city's GRDP structure.

The city currently has 2.3 digital technology enterprises per 1,000 people, ranked second after Ho Chi Minh City, and 3 times higher than the national average rate. About 46,500 people are working in the digital technology sector.

The city is now home to three concentrated information technology parks. Particularly, the Da Nang Software Park has a total of 2,200 employees and the occupancy rate of 100%. The Concentrated Information Technology Park is expected to attract 20,000 workers. The FPT Complex currently has more than 6,000 employees and the figure is expected to increase to 10,000 by 2025.

The construction of the Software Park No. 2 and the Viettel high-tech and software building is underway.

According to the information technology human resource development plan, the city aims to have 75,000 digital technology workers by 2025, an average of 7,500 people per year.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Rector of the University of Science and Technology, the University of Da Nang, said that over the past years, the Devday Danang has built a great reputation for itself and attracted the participation of major technology companies, as well as famous speakers from all over Viet Nam and abroad.

The event effectively implemented the school-enterprise cooperation strategy, thereby contributing to developing high-quality technology human resources in Central Viet Nam.
