He highlighted the urgent necessity to apply science and technology in developing Hoa Vang District into an urban area by 2030 with a vision towards 2045.

The focus should be on effectively implementing the digital transformation project in the locality, digitising land data to serve the urban planning and management, and investing in waste collection and treatment systems in residential areas in order to ensure the safety of the city’s water sources, he added.

Additionally, there should be a mechanism for building a digital map of the impacts of natural disasters, transferring scientific research suitable to the model and land scale of Hoa Vang District, and developing software to introduce and promote tourism and commercial products.

In addition, Secretary Quang suggested the district authorities consider discussing and researching to issue a resolution on promoting the application of science and technology in building Hoa Vang District in a green and sustainable manner in the new period.

Speaking at the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh pointed out some shortcomings during the development progress of the district. In particular, the district’s economic scale is still small and not commensurate with potentials and advantages. There are not many typical and OCOP products. The district’s per capita income is still low compared to the general level of the city. Planning work and planning management still have many shortcomings and do not keep up with development requirements.

Dr. Vo Cong Tri, Chairman of the Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations, underlined a must-do for the district to place the urban development work in the harmonious relationship of the process of industrialisation and modernisation, as well as preserve the image of traditional agriculture and rural areas, and embellish and promote the value of historical relics in the locality.
