In her remarks at the awards ceremony on Wednesday for organisations and individuals with outstanding achievements in science and technology, and startup and innovation activities, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen highly praised scientists, organisations and individuals for their great contributions to science and technology, and startup and innovation activities, serving the local socio-economic development.

In recent years, science, technology, start-up and innovation activities in the city have witnessed many positive changes. Scientists and founders have played a key role and are the nucleus of the ongoing progress of the digital technology revolution. This is both an advantage and a challenge, requiring a team of science and technology intellectuals to create many values in life from their research and inventions.

In 2022, the city won the title of ‘Attractive Startup and Innovation City’. This was an important award to recognise the city’s great contributions in startup and innovation activities to the national innovation and start-up ecosystem.

Vice Chairwoman Yen hoped that experts and scientists would continue to promote the application of science and technology into practice, and step by step commercialise research results, and associate research results with startup and creative innovation activities. This will help build Da Nang to become one of the major socio-economic centres of the country and Southeast Asia with the role of a startup hub in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2019 of the Politburo.

Also at the ceremony, the Da Nang government awarded Certificates of Merit to 41 individuals and groups in recognition of their outstanding achievements in science and technology activities.

Besides, 9 collectives and 9 individuals were honoured with outstanding achievements in startup and innovation activities in 2022.
