Da Nang startups have high expectations for establishment of National Innovation Startup Support Centre

In his remarks at 15th National Assembly's 5th session in June 2023, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat said that the ministry has developed and completed the project on setting up the National Innovation Startup Support Centres in Ha Noi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. It is expected that a decision to establish the three centres will be issued in June or early July.

Before the abovementioned information, State management agencies, experts and startups have expressed their high expectations about the formation of the National Innovation Startup Support Centre in Da Nang.

Da Nang to be one of three attractive destinations for innovation startups

Mr. Pham Hong Quat, Director of the Department of Market Development and Science and Technology Enterprises under the Ministry of Science and Technology, remarked the Ministry of Science and Technology has been completing the project and necessary procedures to establish the National Innovation Startup Support Centre in Da Nang.

He said Da Nang will be one of three attractive destinations for innovation startups, attracting investors and international investment funds to Viet Nam. The central coastal city will be a place to test new business models and new technologies for both Vietnamese and international innovation startup talents.

Da Nang is an attractive destination for talents not only in the field of software technology but also in the fields of financial technology, marine economy and digital transformation.

In addition, the centre will join hands with components in the startup ecosystem in the city such as universities, corporations and investment funds to connect economic resources, thereby contributing to building Da Nang into an attractive destination in the ASEAN and Asia regions. When it comes to Da Nang, everyone will know that this is a place to attract talents in financial technology and develop the marine economy.

Helping the locality achieve many innovation startup goals

Mr. Ly Dinh Quan, General Director of the Song Han Incubator (SHi), said that the centre will be the place to provide infrastructure for elements of the national innovation startup ecosystem in Da Nang in particular and the Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions in general, thereby connecting resources to effectively deploy innovation activities.

He highlighted the significance of the establishment of National Innovation Startup Support Centres in helping localities achieve many innovation startup goals.

A necessary opportunity for innovation startup ecosystem

Ms. Le My Nga, Vice President of the Viet Nam Innovation Hub in Da Nang, said the establishment of the National Innovation Startup Support Centre in Da Nang provided the good opportunity for the city to promote the development of its innovation startup ecosystem.

She affirmed that the National Innovation Startup Support Centre and the Viet Nam Innovation Hub in Da Nang will act as bridges to provide deeper and more specific support for local startups.

Hope for many innovations

Mr. Do Quy Su, CEO of the FiveSS JSC, remarked that local startups were very happy at the information about the establishment of a national-scale innovation startup support centre in Da Nang, breathing a new life into the city’s innovation startup ecosystem.

He added startups will have the opportunity to access many specialised training programmes, improve startup skills, as well as connect with elements in the national and municipal innovation ecosystem, international organisations, investment funds, experts, and startup advisors.
