Da Nang has welcomed many delegations of German businesses to visit and learn about its investment climate over recent years, municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong informed while hosting leaders of the Germany-based Avestos Group on Wednesday.

Till date, the city has attracted 12 German-invested projects, totalling US$10.3 million. In 2022, Da Nang's export turnover to Germany hit US$32 million, whilst the city’s imports from Germany were US$23 million.

In May 2023, the delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh, visited and worked in Germany to concretise cooperation opportunities between the city and German partners.

Regarding the proposals made by the Avestos Group, Vice Chairman Cuong informed that the city was home to 61 vocational education establishments, including 17 colleges, 6 intermediate schools, 12 vocational education centers and 26 vocational education establishments, which is completely enough to meet the vocational needs in Germany.

Mr Cuong also took the opportunity to ask for help from the Avestos Group to consider expanding its project’s participants to attract more workers in Da Nang to work in Germany.

Aside from the 3-year vocational training programme in Germany, Mr. Cuong hoped that Avestos Group can consider developing vocational training programmes, and connecting vocational training schools in the two localities towards a model of half the training time in Da Nang and half the training time in Germany.

Besides, language barriers can pose significant challenges to labour export. Currently, a number of junior high schools in the city have participated in the German Language Teaching Project sponsored by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA).

Vice Chairman Cuong assigned the municipal Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to preside and coordinate with relevant units to have a specific report on cooperation between Da Nang and Avestos Group.

Mr. Matthias Kaiser, President of AVESTOS FAV Vocational Training Association, informed that Avestos Group was a vocational training and human resource development corporation headquartered in Germany. It has invested in Viet Nam since 2016.

Till date, the group has been entrusted by the General Department of Vocational Education and Training under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to deploy high-quality human resource training in 22 occupations according to German vocational models and standards at 45 colleges.
