Accordingly, candidates underwent a competency assessment test consisting of 120 objective multiple-choice questions with 150 minutes of testing time. The structure of the test had three parts: language use; mathematics, logical thinking, data analysis; and problem solving; to assess candidates' basic abilities for university study.
The test focused on assessing candidates' reasoning and problem-solving abilities, not assessing their memorisation ability.
A total of 93,831 candidates from 24 localities from the central to the southwest regions took part in the first phase of the competency assessment exam, with 51 exam clusters and 90 exam venues nationwide.
