The University of Da Nang held a ceremony on Thursday to announce the Resolution of the Council of the University of Da Nang on the establishment of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Accordingly, the School of Medicine and Pharmacy was established on the basis of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy under the University of Da Nang under Decision No. 1154/QD-TCCB dated March 16, 2007 of the Director of the University.

The school trains more than 1,300 students in 5 regular university majors. Every year, about 300 students with high admission scores are admitted to the school.

After 17 years of construction and development, up to now, the school has had 14 training courses (4 General Practitioner courses, 7 Bachelor of Nursing courses, a Dentomaxillofacial Doctor course, and two Pharmacist courses); as well as granted certificates of continuous, short-term medical training to meet the needs of learners and society.

At the announcement ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, Director of the University of Da Nang, and Dr. Phan Minh Duc, Chairman of the Council of the University of Da Nang, presented the resolution of the Council of the University of Da Nang to establish the School of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Also at the event, Dr. Le Viet Nho was appointed as Principal of the School. Meanwhile, Vice Principals of the School were Dr. Le Viet Nhiem, MSc. Le Kim Trong, Dr. Le Duc Nhan - Director of Da Nang Hospital, and Dr. Tran Dinh Vinh - Director of Da Nang Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu acknowledged and highly lauded the great contributions of generations of staff, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, currently known as the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, to the overall development of the University of Da Nang.

He asked the leaders and staff of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy to continue to build solidarity and unity; perfect a streamlined, efficient and effective organizational apparatus; promote cooperation with domestic and foreign institutes, schools, organizations and businesses; and innovate university administration to continuously improve the quality of training and scientific research, thereby affirming prestige of the school in the social community.

On the occasion, the School of Medicine and Pharmacy signed cooperation agreements on scientific research, and knowledge and technology transfer, with the Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the Da Nang Hospital, the Da Nang Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, the Hospital 199 and the Ben Tre Pharmaceutical JSC.
