The 12-minute video "Dien Phong Culture: Land& People", made by a group of students from the University of Science and Education - The University of Da Nang, captures the journey of exploring and learning about the Go Noi region (Dien Phong Commune, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province). This meaningful event is part of the activities under the "Green Summer 2024" volunteer campaign, organised by the Youth Union and Student Association of the University.

The footage summarises the traditional cultural values of Dien Phong Commune and highlights the achievements of 10 years of building a model new-style rural area.

The student group handed over the product to the commune, hoping to contribute to promoting and introducing the unique features of the area, such as Phu Bong ‘banh beo’, Au Lac woodcraft, local market culture, and famous historical sites, to both locals and visitors.

The video was filmed in a way that follows young people visiting special places, allowing tourists to follow the same route to experience the local culture comprehensively and conveniently.

Directing and supervising the production, Mr Nguyen Viet Hai Hiep, Secretary of the University of Science and Education's Youth Union, shared that the media team had to research and compile many sources of information. Accuracy was something they constantly reminded the students about, as even a slight mistake could lead to mentioning the wrong locality. Additionally, there was pressure concerning time since everything happened within less than a week.

The information in the video was researched and compiled with the advice and support of local sources. However, to ensure fresh and high-quality footage, most of the data was filmed anew. There were days when students had to wake up at 3 am to capture scenes of ‘banh beo’ making, or sunrise, and dew on the rice fields. Besides, as they were mostly first- and second-year students, the group spent a considerable amount of time practising specialised skills like scripting, filming, or voice-over work.

Ho Huy Thanh (born in 2005), a journalism student and head of the media team, said that the friendliness and hospitality of the local authorities and residents brought him much joy, inspiration, and eased the difficulties.

Thanh hoped that their product will help promote the beautiful image of Dien Phong Commune, attract tourists, and create opportunities for local development. He also wishes to share his experiences with others who share his passion for filmmaking.

For Pham Minh Thu (born in 2005), another journalism student, participating in cultural research during the summer volunteering campaign was an interesting experience. Students like Thu and Thanh gained new knowledge and also developed ideas and plans concerning the promotion of local culture and tourism.

The summer volunteer programme of students from the University of Science and Education in Dien Phong Commune received strong support from the local authorities and residents.

According to Mr Phan Phuoc Duoc, Secretary of Dien Phong Commune's Youth Union, the "Green summer 2024" volunteer campaign was widely implemented across all fields and featured many innovations in thinking and action. Through this effort, the youth have increasingly made a positive impression on local residents and the commune's leadership.
