A typical working day for Ms. A begins at 6:30 am and ends after 5:00 pm. She dedicates most of her time to the children. For her, preschool teachers lay the foundation for the development of children's personalities and cognitive abilities. To achieve this goal, she utilises her pedagogical knowledge and experience in understanding children's psychology to develop many valuable initiatives in teaching methods. According to Ms. A, each age group of children possesses distinct personalities.
“At the age of three, children are often very mischievous and like to do things their way, making it difficult to instil discipline. However, if we can identify and encourage their strengths in a timely manner, it will yield positive results. Children aged 4-5 years begin to enjoy exploring new things and prefer active engagement, so we must allow them to explore and express their thoughts,” Ms. A shared.
With her dedication and passion, Ms. A has been chosen by the school administration as a key teacher to implement innovative teaching methods. With her initiative, "Some measures to enhance effectiveness of child-centred education," she has proudly received commendations from the Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee for outstanding performance during the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school years. Her lesson “Exploring surrounding environment with real objects through practical activities” has been highly evaluated by the school and adopted by her colleagues.
“According to Ms. A's lesson, when children visit the school vegetable garden, the teacher serves as a guide, suggesting the uses, characteristics, and living environment of each type of vegetable. The children then participate in practical activities such as picking pests, watering, weeding, and harvesting vegetables for the kitchen. Through activities like this, children become very engaged and learn many things,” shared Ms. Le Thi Thien Thu, a teacher in the Senior class.
Speaking about Ms. A, Ms. Le Thi Kim Van, Principal of the Hoa Son Kindergarten, remarked that she is not only an enthusiastic, dynamic, and responsible Chair of the Trade Union organisation of the school but also a model of self-study and creativity in her work, contributing many innovative ideas to improve the school's teaching methods.
Through practical application, the innovative changes in teaching methods implemented by Ms. Nguyen Thi Chau A have yielded positive results. Children are always eager to participate in lessons and engage in activities enthusiastically. They absorb the material well, showing creativity in practical exercises instead of merely following a rigid format. This serves as a solid foundation as they transition to primary school.
When asked about her secret to creativity, Ms. A smiled: “I have no secrets, it’s simply my love for the profession and the children. I feel happy when children come to school and consider it their second home, gradually becoming well-behaved and polite”.
