Since its implementation in early November 2024, the “Students with the homeland sea and islands” programme has contributed to raising awareness and responsibility of the young generation about the love for the homeland, the country and especially the national sovereignty over its sea and islands.

Returning from the first phase of the “Students with the homeland sea and islands” programme held on November 9, Tran Thi Vy Cam was impressed with the special activities at Naval Region 3.

Throughout the programme, Vy Cam, along with her friends and teachers, of the Dai Viet Da Nang College had the opportunity to learn about the process of building, fighting and growing up of the Viet Nam People's Navy at the traditional house Region 3; as well as visit the living, dining, training and studying spaces of naval officers and soldiers on combat ship units. Also, they took part in a wide range of exciting cultural exchange activities.

“Through the lectures of teachers, historical stories and information on television, we understand the vastness and richness of our homeland’s sea and islands and the resilience and bravery of the navy force that guards the country day and night. We always hope that one day we can visit the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos and interact with the soldiers. And today, part of that wish has come true” Vy Cam shared.

Like Vy Cam, student Nguyen Dang Hong Ngan could not hide her emotions when participating in the cultural exchange activities through songs about the fatherland and Uncle Ho.

Over the past 12 years, with her great passion for singing, Ngan has become accustomed to singing in front of everyone, but when standing on a special stage with the navy soldiers, the feeling was as nostalgic as the first day of singing practice. In the lyrics that day, for more than 100 students, there were not only simple sounds but also the emotions of youth about love for their homeland and country.

Meanwhile, it seems that one day of experience is not enough for student Nguyen Tan Ninh. Compared to the knowledge he had before, seeing the combat ships and hearing about their functions is a completely new experience.

Ninh hopes that such similar activities will be organised more often so that young people can receive good values. That is the pride, awareness and responsibility for the national sovereignty over its sea and islands spread by the soldiers of Naval Region 3. All will be the luggage and motivation for the young generation to strive to practice, study and contribute more to the country.

Within the framework of the programme, the visiting delegation presented 500 national flags to officers and soldiers of Naval Region 3 and got involved in cleanup activities at the Man Thai Beach, Son Tra District.

In addition, students were taken to visit the Son Tra Peninsula and bridges spanning the Han River, and at the same time bonded together through exciting teambuilding activities.

It is known that the meaningful programme "Students with the homeland sea and islands" has been jointly organised by the Command of Naval Region 3 and the Dai Viet Da Nang College. It is divided into 4 phases with nearly 600 students participating and lasts until the end of November 2024.

According to Dr. Tran Van Anh, Acting Principal of the Dai Viet Da Nang College, through this programme, the college’s students are raised awareness and responsibility about love for the homeland and its sea and islands, as well as protecting the clean and beautiful marine environment.

This is also a practical activity to strengthen the military-civilian solidarity relationship, and celebrate the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024) and the 80th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024).
