New learning spaces
In November 2024, digital classrooms and digital libraries were piloted at the Nguyen Luong Bang and Ngo Thi Nham junior high schools, and Phan Phu Tien Primary School. This is a new educational model, invested in and built in the form of socialisation with a budget of nearly VND 4 billion.
In particular, the digital classroom is equipped with modern equipment, including a system of tablets, interactive boards, modern tables and chairs, headphones and advanced software, in order to help teachers access new teaching methods, and apply technology to make lessons more intuitive and vivid. With this classroom, pupils have the opportunity to experience interactive lessons, and explore knowledge through virtual reality.
Viet Thanh, a pupil in grade 7/8 at the Nguyen Luong Bang Junior High School shared “We really like studying in the digital classroom because it is not only beautiful, but also has many new things. The modern equipment in the classroom supports us a lot in our studies such as detecting wrong writing, English pronunciation, and computer applications. I hope there will be more classrooms like this so that we can study here more often”.
According to teachers, the implementation of digital classrooms and digital libraries is a big, strategic step in modernising education. This is not simply about bringing technology into teaching, but also opening up a new learning space where pupils can maximise their creativity and ability to think and debate.
Mr. Huynh Duy Linh, Principal of Nguyen Luong Bang Junior High School, said that instead of just learning through traditional books, pupils now have the opportunity to experience interactive lessons and practice their skills in using information technology. For digital libraries, digitised documents and a rich repository of learning materials help teachers and pupils easily access valuable resources without being limited by space or time.
“Currently, the school is selecting books suitable for teachers and pupils. In particular, the orientation is to strive for each pupil to read at least 1 book/month. After reading each book, students will record their feelings, impressions and lessons learned. This is also a criterion for ranking the competition in the year. This will contribute to developing a reading culture among school-age children substantially and effectively” said Mr. Linh.
Promoting educational innovation
Lien Chieu is a locality with a rapid population growth rate, a lack of schools and classrooms, and limited equipment and facilities. Therefore, the building of digital classrooms and digital libraries in the form of socialisation has a strong spreading meaning, so that schools citywide can learn from it.
Vice Chairman of Lien Chieu District People's Committee Nguyen Nhuong said that the pilot project to create momentum and universalise STEM education for all levels of education in the next 5 years is the locality's key task to create a breakthrough in education and training in the spirit of Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training.
Recognising that importance, authorities in Lien Chieu District have assigned the Office of Education and Training to quickly deploy the newest and most advanced educational model at the 3 aforementioned schools in the form of socialisation. The goal of this model is to contribute to the early human resource training programme for Lien Chieu District in particular and the city in general.
According to Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training Pham Tan Ngoc Thuy, putting digital classrooms and digital libraries into operation not only creates conditions for pupils to access knowledge in a modern and flexible way but also stimulates creativity and proactive learning. This is an important tool to help teachers innovate their teaching methods, while building a smart and positive learning environment. The birth of digital classrooms and digital libraries is a testament to the spirit of cooperation and determination to take Lien Chieu District education further on the journey of innovation.
“This is an important milestone, demonstrating strong innovation in education, demonstrating the deep concern of authorities at all levels, organisations and individuals for the cause of cultivating people. Hopefully, pupils will make good use of digital resources, strive to study and constantly innovate to become responsible, knowledgeable and ambitious global citizens,” Mr. Thuy expressed.
