Impressive images of Tam Giang-Cau Hai lagoon
Many brackish-water lagoons can be found along the central coast, such as the Tam Giang-Cau Hai lagoon in Thua Thien-Hue Province, the O Loan lagoon in Phu Yen Province, and the Thi Nai lagoon in Quy Nhon City.
Of these, the Tam Giang-Cau Hai lagoon, which covers more than 22,000 ha, is the largest in the central region, and in Southeast Asia as a whole. The lagoon boasts abundant and diversified nature, with 921 aquatic species including some rare species of fish and plants. It also supplies food and shelter for 73 different species of migrating birds.
The majority of the residents living near the lagoon are involved in fishing activities to earn their livings.
Here are some photos which showcase the beauty of the lagoon and the fishing activities of the local residents. The photos were taken by photographer Pham Ba Thinh who is a lecturer at Hue University of Education’s Philology Department and a member of the International Federation of Photographic Art.
