After 25 hours of facing high waves and strong wind, rescue ship SAR 274 from the Zone II Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) has safely brought back a total of 11 crew members who had been in danger at sea to the mainland.

Previously, at 8.34pm on Monday, fishing boat DNa 90415 from Son Tra District’s Nai Hien Dong Ward suffered a rudder breakdown while fishing in the national waters.  The boat, with its crew of 11, was adrift over 60 nautical miles north-east of the Da Nang coast.

At that time, the weather at sea was very bad, with strong wind and high waves from 3m to 4m high, driving all crew member onboard the distressed vessel into panic.

After receiving an SOS message from the fishing boat, the Da Nang MRCC immediately sent out rescue ship SAR 274 to help the victims.

At 2.00am on Tuesday, the rescue ship reached the fishing boat, and its crew members were transferred to the ship for health examinations.  The boat and its crew safely arrived in Da Nang at noon on Tuesday, and all the fishermen are now safe and in good health.

Here are some photos of the rescue mission, taken by reporter Ngoc Phu from the DA NANG Newspaper, who was onboard rescue ship SAR 274.
