On Tuesday evening, despite cold and wet weather, a large number of Da Nang’s residents and visitors gathered along the both banks of the romantic Han River and on the rooftops of high buildings to watch a spectacular fireworks display.

The 15-minute-long fireworks show started at 9.00pm at Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, aiming at celebrating the 22nd anniversary of Da Nang’s recognition as a centrally-governed city on 1 January 1997, and welcoming the New Year.

The event followed the success of the highly-impressive public New Year Countdown Party which took place at the 29 March Square on 2 September Street last night to welcome 2019.

Regardless of unfavourable weather condition, a large number of Da Nang’s residents and visitors gathered along the both banks of the iconic Han River to admire a spectacular fireworks display.

Noticeably, following recent approval by the Da Nang authorities, another 3 magnificent fireworks displays to ring in the Lunar New Year will take place on Lunar New Year’s Eve which will fall on 5 February 2019.

The upcoming shows will be at the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, a vacant land area in front of the Lien Chieu District Administration Centre, and a vacant location in front of the Hoa Vang District Administration Centre.

All the costs of the shows will be covered by public donations.
