On Wednesday morning (the 9th day of the 1st lunar month), the Lien Chieu District Open Boat Race 2019 took place on some sections of the Cu De River across which the Nam O Bridge spans.

This annual event reflects the special cultural traditions and river life of residents in Lien Chieu District for many years.

This year’s event attracted over 120 contestants in total from 5 men’s and 3 women’s teams hailing from Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Hiep Bac and Hoa Hiep Nam wards, Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Bac Commune, and Ngu Hanh Son and Cam Le districts.

Under the race’s rules, the men’s teams were required to complete 3 laps, equivalent to 3km, and the ladies’ teams competed in just 2, equivalent to 2km.
